Spotlight: Abdul Aljoufi

Oct 6, 2023

Q: Tell us about yourself!
A:
My full name is Abdulrahman Aljoufi, but I go by Abdul. I am married to my beautiful wife, Iman, and we have a beautiful daughter, Zahrah (thank God she looks like her mom.) I am originally from Yemen. I was born and raised in Yemen, then moved to the US in 2008.
I am a Senior Technical Recruiter, and I have been with Kitestring since March 2019, for over four years.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
A: I enjoy playing and watching soccer, hiking, and spending time with my wife and daughter.

Q: What led you to this career? Were you influenced by anyone or anything?
A: It was a total coincidence. I was in my last year in college, and I was chatting with my friend’s spouse, who was a recruiter. She told me what a recruiter does, and then at the end, she said you would make a great recruiter. I got my first role in temp agency recruiting and never looked back!

Q: What are you most proud of accomplishing since joining Kitestring?
A: This is a very difficult question to answer because there have been so many memorable hires it’s hard to single one out.

Q: What’s one thing – either industry-related or not – you learned in the last month?
A: I learned about a new programming language called Clojure. This was my first time recruiting for a role like this.

Q: What keeps you motivated?
A: Providing for my family, of course, and continuing to help build and grow Kitestring. I have never been part of a company where you get to feel a sense of ownership and get rewarded for your impact, like at Kitestring.

Q: Where is your favorite destination to travel to, and why?
A: I don’t have a favorite destination, but of course, I enjoy traveling back home to Yemen and have also really enjoyed my most recent trip to England. I got to watch my favorite team, Arsenal, play at the Emirates Stadium.

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A:
I grew up wanting to be a soccer coach. As much as I used to love to play the game, I have always shown interest in tactics and coaching players.

Q: What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?
A:
It’s hard to single out one professional advice because I have had the fortune of having an amazing boss, Sapna, for the last six years. She has helped me grow in both my professional and personal lives, but I would say the best advice she has given me is when she advised me to join Kitestring.

Q: What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?
A:
Currently reading a book called Wenger, my life in red and white by Arsene Wenger

Q: Can you describe our company culture in just one word?
A:
Family
