Business Challenge

A large client needed to migrate a mission-critical business application for a non-US part of their business. The end goal was to leverage the processing power and cost elasticity of Infrastructure as a Service. Running the application in an elastic cloud environment should allow the client to reduce spend in non-peak times and seasons, as well as scale horizontally to meet growing demand levels.

However, the project was one year behind and not demonstrating any cost benefit. Additionally, the project team was considering re-architecting for on-premises infrastructure, which would’ve been an additional unbudgeted spend. Success would be measured by the ability to scale without interruption, and ultimately to recover increasing spend caused by growing demand on infrastructure needed to run the business application.
