Spotlight: Samba Sallah

Q: Tell us about yourself!
A:
 I am Samba Sallah, originally from the Gambia. I have been working as a Software Engineer for Kitestring since June 2022.

 

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
A: In my spare time, I like to hang out with friends, visit new locations, and travel to various states.

 

Q: What led you to this career? Were you influenced by anyone or anything?
A: In middle school, I had my first introduction to computers and programming, and ever since then, I’ve been captivated and became passionate about it.

 

Q: What’s one thing –industry-related or not – you learned in the last month?
A:
Dynatrace

 

Q: What keeps you motivated?
A:
Software developers have limitless opportunities, and the power and reach of software systems are amazing.

 

Q: Where is your favorite destination to travel to, and why?
A: Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to travel to many countries, but it’s in my plans to do so. I would like to visit different countries around the world to have a first-hand experience of other cultures.

 

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A:
 I wanted to be a pilot, but now  I wouldn’t trade my career for anything.


Q: What are you most proud of accomplishing since joining Kitestring?

A:  Being a member of the team that created a profile feature for a retailer in an international market, which enables a single account experience for self-checkout and online customers, allowing them to have a unified view of both in-store and online transactions.

 

Q: What’s the best professional advice you’ve ever received?
A:
To be a good example and a team player and to always strive for the best.

 

Q: What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?
A: 
Prison Break; it’s my fourth time watching it, but it’s still my favorite series

 

Q: What is your favorite part of working at our company?
A
: The never-ending challenges, as well as being part of a team that handles all international markets (Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Mexico) for the world’s largest retailer, Walmart, working on production systems used by millions of people to do their daily grocery shopping, and the genuine concern that kitestring has for the well-being of its employees.
